15 April 2008: Vexy & Lip Service

Vexy's Spring and Summer collection should be in the store within the next 48 hours and Lip Service is on the floor! Iron fist ships this week and Raven images ships next week.

10 March 2008: New Stock!

Ironfist clothing has arrived and is on the floor. Vexy has shipped and our Cleopatra Records shipment is in. Band flags ship out this week and we should ship Lip Service within the next week.

And Tripp just called, they have a shipment ready to go out anytime.

Lots of new stock is coming and the store looks amazing after it's revamp (hey, we had to do something with all the KP equipment). The KP sign will be installed shortly which will complete our new look.

01 March 2008: Last Words and First Looks

Today is our Kildonan Place location's last day of operation. It has been a pleasure working with our Kildonan Place customers, staff and mall management. We hope to see you all again.

Also, our shipment of records should have gone out this week and we look forward to seeing to soon. Ironfist clothing has arrived and should be out on the floor by this evening. Lip Service, Vexy and our shipment of flags all get shipped this week and should all be in stock within 1-2 weeks.

All the spring stock is starting to ship so stay tuned!

26 February 2008: The Big Post

Here it goes. Several big things will be happening over the next few weeks at the Crypt.

First of all, we recently returned from attending MAGIC, a Las Vegas clothing show. Some of the merchandise there will be arriving over the next few months, other product will not be arriving until summer. Either way, we have a combination of old favorites and new lines that will keep you excited over the next 6 months.

As part of our committment to serving the scene, we happened across a line of collectible vinyl albums; everything from Sid Vicious to The Damned to other extremely hard to find records. Most of this stuff is limited edition reprints but is a nice addition for people that collect band merch but really don't give a flying frack about a new Ramones keychain.

For clothing this season, we have a combination of old and new. Some lines are top secret until they get here, but the ones I can tell you are confirmed are Tripp, CBGB, Lucky 13, Ironfist (new), Vexy and Lip Service. We've ordered some new licensed t-shirts such as Robot Chicken, Chuck Norris, Family Guy and Princess Bride (HELLO! My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die...)

We're bringing in a real poster display instead of those beat up cardboard display boxes we have now. We have a huge selection of hoodies (most under $40) coming in just in time for back to school.

We're bringing in band flags, as we finally found a way to have them packaged in a small format. As well, many of our accessory lines are returning this season.

Now for the bad news and what it means to us.

The Crypt Kildonan place has been in operation for 7 months and is not even remotely profitable. We seem to have a high level of shoplifting and are not doing the sales needed to keep a mall operation afloat. I firmly believe that if we had been allowed to add the body modification portion of our business there, this would not have happened.

However, this was not to be the case. The mall manager, Mark, has been extremely flexible with us and our experience with them has been nothing but positive. We appreciate the opportunity they gave us and wished that it turned out better.

At the end of the day, though, it didn't. As such, we are announcing the closing of our Kildonan Place location. The last day will be March 1, 2008. Until then, everything in that location is 20% off but final sale. We are sad to lose the staff there, as they were all excellent, without an exception.

What this means for the Osborne Village location is more stock, new signage, new fixtures and new store layout to make room for all this stuff.

We want to thank those people who supported our venture into the malls and hope to see you again at our original store which will be celebrating it's 10th year in Osborne Village!

21 January 2008: Lucky 13 Is In!

Men's Chino Jackets, Women's Raglan Shirts, and more! Hair dye is on its way; expect it to be in by Wednesday. We are still interviewing for a full time staff person at Osborne and have to have someone hired and trained shortly so get those resumes in now, people.

In approximately 3 weeks, we will be flying off to Vegas for MAGIC, a huge clothing show where we will be picking out a good portion of our spring and summer stock. Expect an even larger and better selection than 2007 this year.

10 January 2008: Bleach Kits Are Back

The best bleach kits in the city are back! Both 30 and 40 volume strengths are in stock at the Osborne store and KP will receive their shipment later today. As well, our shipment of baby clothes has arrived and will be distributed today as well. Our orders of Lucky 13 and wristbands have both shipped and should be in within the next 10 days.

08 January 2008: Band T-Shirts Have Arrived

A good selection is now in our Osborne Village Store and our Kildonan Place Location will receive their delivery later today. As well, we have added some of the new Lip Service to the site. We received some other styles as well but unfortunately do not have photos of everything.

24 November 2007: Lucky 13, Vexy and More!

Shipments from Lucky 13 and Vexy are now in! As well, we have new House of 1000 Corpses Living Dead Dolls, Ouija Boards and spell books just in time for Christmas! Does that not scream festive?!

17 November 2007: Tis The Season To Max Credit Cards...

And we're going to make it easy for you! Emily Strange just came in and we have orders from Lucky 13, Vexy and various toy and collectible manyfacturers on the way, all of which will be arriving next week! Plus, Lip Service and Impact band tees both called and want to ship in the next two weeks so there is still more to come!

10 November 2007: Christmas Stock Is Arriving

New Rock Boots are in! We only ordered 3 styles to test the water But they are moving like hotcakes! (Does anyone actually say that anymore?)

We have also received our hair dye order and CBGB arrived yesterday which is already in Osborne and will be sent to Kildonan Place today. If that isn't enough, Lucky 13 is due to arrive any day, Emily Strange has shipped and Vexy will be shipping any day along with the rest of our Christmas stock.

As well, our website host has resolved its server issue which unexpectantly brought down our website for 4 days last week. Keep checking in because more is arriving constantly.

25 October 2007: New Stock

A small shipment of Vexy arrived yesterday. We have also received shipments of blank shirts for printing (including baby clothes) and a shipment of Knotty Boy products over the last few days.

Our new hair dye order is on it's way and we are still waiting for New Rock boots to clear customs as are a lot of you.

Shipping within the next week are Lucky 13 and CBGB as we start to receive all of out Christmas stock.

05 October 2007: Affliction/Sinful

We just received a small order of Affliction & Sinful clothing. As this order was placed prior to our new store opening up, we didn't have enough product to split the styles evenly between the stores. As such, both stores received different styles. This week we are expecting Knotty Boy and New Rock boots so keep checking back!

28 September 2007: A Familiar Face

The Crypt would like to welcome back piercer Kristian Conchie to our Osborne Village store.

Kristian has worked at several Winnipeg area studios besides the Crypt including Gravity and Skin Dimensions.

Kristian will be replacing Michael who departed in April and will take some of the load off of Fidel who has been so extremely busy with tattooing that he couldn't effectively handle all of our body piercing business as well.

Welcome back.

27 September 2007: New Stock In And More Coming!

Last night we received several new orders which are already on the floor at both stores.

We have a new order of baby/toddler clothes and bibs, as well as a new shipment of spiked collars and wristbands. On top of this, our KP store now has a larger selection of baby prints for custom t-shirt printing.

Shipping today, we have a small order of Affliction merchandise on its way (the large order will be in before Christmas) and New Rock is shipping a few styles of boots out for us. In the next few days, Demonia and Vexy will also be shipping out orders, so keep checking back!

10 September 2007: Living Dead Dolls Series 14 In

We will add pix as soon as the official LDD website is updated so we can steal them (hey, they pay professionals for this stuff, why should we have to?). We also got in Monty Python plush Death dolls and stuffed Anubis: God Of The Dead dolls.

23 August 2007: It Just Keeps Coming!

Hmmm...what haven't we told you about yet? Lip Service has arrived! Raven has arrived! Tripp has shipped (a huge order). Sourpuss ships tomorrow (cool baby clothes). Affliction and Loungefly ship next week! Bang-On ships the following week! The Raven order was lightswitch plates, cosmetic bags, posters, keychains and buttons. Lip Service was a small order as we placed it prior to deciding to open up Kildonan Place so the styles were split between the stores. We also received a small shipment from Lelk, a western Canadian brand which shows a lot of promise.

Stay tuned as we get ready for fall and holiday orders in both stores. And for the record, Vexy's holiday merch is SWEET.

16 August 2007: Vexy Is Here And Fall Is Shipping!

Vexy's fall collection has now arrived with more to come prior to Christmas! Raven has shipped posters and more which should arrive within 10 days and after a minor set-back, Lip Service is on its way as well. Tripp and Sourpuss should both be shipping within the next two weeks and we cannot wait until you see all the new stock! A small Emily order has also arrived and is doing quite well in both locations so see you soon!

4 August 2007: Kildonan Place is Open!

We're open! Response has been great so far despite the fact that we are low on stock in both locations until our spring stock starts to arrive (which it is already). Coming soon are Lip Service, Tripp, Raven, Vexy, Sourpuss and more! We have already received a small Vexy order this last week but it's a nice sample of what's to come.

29 July 2007: The Not-So-Final Touches...

Three days left until opening and we are nowhere near finished. The ceiling is only half painted, none of the stock is there and no racks are up. Yup, opening a store is just how I remember it....hell.

However, the majority of the store is painted, the sign is up, the lights are up and we received a shipment of Vexy yesterday (only a few styles) which will be on the floor Monday at Osborne and Wednesday at Kildonan Place. Tripp, Raven and Bang-On are ready to ship so we will have lots of new stock shortly.

All I can say is that I feel like a pregnant woman. It all seems a lot of fun when you get started but by the end you are just tired, cranky and want the whole friggin' thing done with!

At least, being male, that's what I imagine pregnant women are like....

24 July 2007: LENY Orders And More

So we're back from the LENY (London Edge - New York) trade show and we're completely excited about all the new lines coming in and the returns of our favorites. We will continue to carry such great lines as Vexy, Lip Service, Lucky 13, Draven and Tripp. But we are also going to take the opportunity to introduce a few new lines to our stores. We have Zoelibat, a german goth/fetish line which we picked up coats, corsets and bags from. Amazing stuff!

We are also bringing back two lines which we let drop over the years, Demonia and New Rock. Only a small selection of each but we will see the response we get and continue from there. We have picked up the line CBGB which should be ready to ship soon (printed t-shirts from New York's original Rock/Punk Bar), Sourpuss Clothing (primarily children's clothing) and a new clothing line out of London England which is very similar to Tripp. A lot of this stuff ships immediately with the balance shipping around the end of September so that it arrives in time for Christmas.

As well, since our Tripp order has been delayed due to shipping problems, we are shipping out Lip Service and Vexy today. Lip Service should arrive just after our new store's grand opening but Vexy should be here just in time. Lip Service is a smaller order but it looks like Vexy is a good size.

The lighting has been installed in the new store and construction is now completed with the exception of the exterior. We start painting today and will be receiving all of our new fixtures tomorrow sometime. The countdown has started; one week until opening...

13 July 2007: The Crypt Kildonan Place

As the date draws near, several things are going on at once. The construction begins on the new store this weekend (finally) which includes re-drywalling, making change rooms, new lights and painting (hmm....a nice lemon yellow perhaps?)

Our new sign should be up around the 25th.

The new fixtures (racks, counters, etc) arrive on the 25th and the stock will be transferred over shortly after that. We have sorted through the 100 or so resumes we received (which completely blew us away) and have begun the interviewing process which should conclude today. Thanks to everyone that applied. Unfortunately, because most people won't get as much training as we would like prior to opening, preference had to be given to those with retail experience when deciding who would get interviews. Keep applying, you never know when we will be hiring again.

I am off to New York to see LENY (London Edge New York) to go shopping for our Fall/Holiday selection. We will have some new stock for our grand opening; Tripp is shipping Monday and we have other selections on order at the moment which may or may not get here on time.

Hair dye arrived yesterday for those that were waiting for specific colours and stuff just keeps on coming. We have orders outstanding still with Lip Service, Vexy, Rock Steady, and Bang-On as well as shipments due in shortly for wristbands, wallets, light switch plates, posters and so much more!

01 July 2007: Osborne Village Streetfest

I wanted to take this opportunity to personally thank all of our customers who helped make this year's Canada Day streetfest such a success particularly those who offered to help or pitched in when the thunderstorm hit and all of our stock had to be run inside.

Over the next few weeks, you should see some changes in us. We are introducing several new lines and our Kildonan Place Shopping Centre store opens August first. More details on the new lines will be revealed after I return from London Edge - New York later this month.

Also, for those of you wishing to apply for the Osborne Village or Kildonan Place locations, please get your resume in immediately. We have about 100 of them to go through but we intend to do it this week. Most of the new positions will be at the Kildonan Place location but due to staff reorganization, we will likely need a part-timer in Osborne.

23 June 2007: Tripp NYC Is In

Men's striped long sleeve shirts, wide leg pants and some cool new coats as well as various other items. We just restocked on bleach kits the other day and received a new selection of striped and leopard print shirts for our custom tees selection. On the way, more prints for custom tees expected in just in time for Canada Day.

10 June 2007: As The Canada Day Streetfest Approaches...

We Will be receiving new product in time for the Canada Day Streetfest which will include printed t-shirts (so you can now print your Custom Tees on Leopard Print, Tiger Stripe and more!), some t-shirt decals specifically for Canada Day (in case getting a tattoo of a maple leaf sounds a little over-patriotic), Tripp NYC, Wigs, Bleach Kits and more! Plus, we will, as always, be having a Canada Day Streetfest Sale which is so hush hush even we don't know what it is yet but rest assured, it will be great! In other news, expect to see construction on The Crypt's Kildonan Place location begin shortly as we just picked up the keys!

All in all, it's an amazing time for us. The store is overflowing with stock, we have a great collection of staff and a new store coming along nicely. All this as we begin our 10th year of operations as Winnipeg's best subculture clothing store. And it's only going to get better so stay tuned!

05 June 2007: On Its Way...

We have several shipments leaving our suppliers. On its way are wigs, bleach kits and a shipment from Tripp which includes six styles of men's pants. We are less than one month from the Osborne Village/Canada Day Streetfest and less than two from the opening of The Crypt KP. It's going to be a crazy few months at our store so stay tuned!

03 May 2007:Blue Q Now In, Custom Tees and Draven On The Way!

Blue Q, one of our new accessories lines, has just arrived and I'm fighting the urge to buy a stack of it for myself. Draven has shipped and Vexy should be going out today. And The Crypt will soon be doing custom t-shirt printing! We actually picked up the line for our Kildonan Place location but we like consistency so after a bit of a training period for our staff, we should be good to go in about 2 weeks! In the store, all Tim Burton toys are 50% off and all other 'toy room' toys are 25% off. This does not include lunchboxes, candy or magnet sets. Stay tuned for further updates as we continue to improve as part of our 10th year celebration!

28 April 2007:Directions, Affliction and Sinful Now In!

Affliction (Menswear) and Sinful (Womenswear) are both now in. There is more due from both of these lines but this is a good sample of what's still to come. We admit the lines are both a little pricey but the quality is well worth it. Directions arrived as well yesterday and is on the floor. Vexy and Draven (a new shoe line) and Blue Q all ship Monday and we have Lucky 13 shipping out Wednesday as well as a sweet new line which we'll talk about more once it arrives! We will also be bringing in a new line of Rock Merch in the next week or two so stay tuned for more info there.

25 April 2007:Huge Shipments On Their Way

Between now and Monday, we have no less than 5 new shipments on the way. All should arrive in the next 2-14 days. Included in this are 3 new lines...Blue Q (a cool new line of accessories), Lucky 13 (an old favorite), Directions (to replace the few colours we are out of), Affliction/Sinful (an amazing new clothing line for guys and gals) and a surprise new t-shirt line which we aren't saying any more about until it arrives in about 10 days. Let's just say, we're always improving and this season will be like no other. It's all part of our 10th year celebrations which should actually start this summer but we're getting in the mood a little early. Keep checking in, you're going to be blown away!

21 April 2007:Draven Ships Early

Draven Shoes are shipping in the next 2 weeks instead of in July as originally thought. Directions should be here no later than Wednesday (it leaves England today but has to clear customs) and we just secured a top secret new line which should arrive sometime after the Canada Day Streetfest and will be one of our cornerstone new lines for the Kildonan Place store. We are still in the process of adding content to the website so stay tuned...

17 April 2007:Directions and New Product Lines On The Way

La Riche Directions Hair Dye is shipping this week as well as our new accessories line. We are also slowly but surely rebuilding our website after a major technical glitch (our other website and back-ups were deleted on us) so stay tuned for more content. We have also just put out inquiries for no less than 4 new product lines as part of our expansion into Kildonan Place Shopping Centre. Some lines we may not be able to carry at the Osborne location because of other stores nearby that carry some of them (license agreements) but we will always endeavor to bring the best the scene has to offer to you, our customers. The Crypt would also like to thank Fidel for doing a marvelous job filling in for body piercing while we continue our search for a new piercer since Mike's unexpected departure. Stay tuned...

05 April 2007:Tripp And Lip Service Are Now In!

The title says it all...a medium-sized Lip Service order and a large Tripp NYC order arrived yesterday evening and are both on the floor. The store is packed beyond belief. And...The Crypt would like to welcome it's two newest staff members, Roxy and Madison. Make sure you say hi to them when dropping by over the next few weeks. They will be replacing April who has moved onto other pursuits. The Crypt is still looking for a new body piercer as Fidel's tattooing schedule prevents him from piercing full-time at the store and interested applicants should contact Daemon or Felicity at 204-453-1132.

03 April 2007:Piercer Wanted

The Crypt is now looking for a new full time body piercer. Applicants must be experienced, clean (both personally and professionally) and knowledgeable about their trade.

We provide a busy studio with a full benefits package (dental, medical, prescription) available after 3 months full-time employment.

The Crypt will miss Mike and wish him the best in any future endeavor. Also, we have finished our hiring process for the full and part time counter staff. We had a lot of great applicants and it is unfortunate we couldn't hire more. All resumes will be kept on-file for our next hiring period in July, 2007.

Until Mike is replaced, Fidel will continue to cover our piercing appointments. Fidel is very experienced and looks forward to helping you with all your piercing requirements.

30 March 2007: Bleach Kits and Knotty Boy

Knotty Boy and our Bleach Kits both arrived today and Tripp is still on its way along with our Lip Service. Vexy got back to us and they have a smaller order ready to ship out and it appears Lucky 13 is ready to ship again. AND....our Kildonan Place lease has been signed. It is now official, we will be opening our second store this summer. And if you wish to apply for our sales positions, please get your resumes in this weekend as we intend to be hiring this week.

27 March 2007: Lucky 13 Is In

Lucky 13 is in and on the floor. We got t-shirts, work shirts, women's jackets, car floor mats and more! As well, Tripp should arrive in the next day or two, Lip Service ships in the next day or two and bleach kits and Knotty Boy should be in at any time. And once again, the Crypt is hiring at the moment for full and part time employees so get your resumes in as soon as possible.

24 March 2007: The BiG Announcement

First a few quick updates. Lucky 13 should arrive sometime Monday and should be on the floor Monday evening. Tripp NYC is in the country and I am guessing it will arrive in the store Wednesday. Our bleach kits and Knotty Boy have both shipped and Lip Service should ship Monday. Vexy has a new order ready to ship out and we just received a large new body jewelry order.

We are also looking for resumes as we are getting ready to hire a new full-time and possibly a new part-time staff person for our Osborne Village location to start the beginning of April. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and part-time applicants will be given first option of any new full-time positions if they are hired. All full-time staff members receive a full benefits package after 3 months of employment.

Now...the Big Announcement. As you may know, the Crypt has been throwing out not-so-subtle hints that we intend to open a second store in Winnipeg. We are happy to announce that effective August 1st, 2007, The Crypt's Osborne Village shop will have a sister store, located in Kildonan Place Mall. We will need to hire several new full and part-time staff people for both locations around the beginning of July for this expansion, which will only feature our retail end of our store.

We hope that the new store will better serve some of our suburban clients that find it hard to get to our Osborne Village Location. Thank-you for all of your support over the years and we hope to see you at our new location, opening just in time for the back to school season!

21 March 2007: The Armory is Full and Lip Service Update

Our shipment of spiked wristbands, collars and bullet belts has arrived and is on the floor. We will be re-ordering our bleach kits tomorrow as well as our Knotty Boy which has become a bit depleted. AND! Lip Service sent me an e-mail yesterday stating that they have an order ready to ship. It's not everything we ordered but that should come in later this season. We expect to be able to ship it Monday so you can expect it in around the first week of April. Both Tripp and Lucky 13 should arrive any day now so stay tuned....And finally, we will be making the big announcement we promised at the end of this month but we will give you a hint.....To further serve our customers, we are in negotiations to open a second store in Winnipeg (like you couldn't guess from the poll question earlier this month). We can't tell you where or when at this point (until the lease is signed) but we will have all the information to you hopefully by the end of this month.

16 March 2007: Tripp Has Shipped

Tripp NYC ships today which means that between it and our Lucky 13 order that is also on its way, our clothing stock is about to increase dramatically, particularly our men's selection. Still no word on the Lip Service as of yet. The order has been placed and we are just waiting to hear when they have some ready. That shipment of bullet belts, wristbands and collars should also arrive any day now so for those of you noticing that our display was getting thin, we're filling it up again.

13 March 2007: More Is Here. More Is Ready. More is On It's Way...

We are about to be in serious danger of running out of room and my staff have informed me that before I order this much stock again, I may want to consider buying a bigger store.

Lucky 13 ships today and it's quite a large order. Expect it in next week around Thursday or Friday. A new line of T-shirts, shot glasses and magnet sets arrived yesterday; not a huge order but some cool stuff none-the-less. We actually ordered the line specifically for the babywear which never came with the order. And Tripp NYC called yesterday; they, too, have a sizable order ready to ship out. That one will probably go out the beginning of next week some time so expect it in around the end of the month. We also ordered in more spikey wristbands, collars and bullet belts which we expect in around the end of next week.

And the stuff keeps coming...Keep checking in the store regularly as we only order a limited run per style and that means that we can sell out of a specific style fast and please remember to vote on the poll located just below this entry. Your opinion helps to shape our company's future.

08 March 2007: We're Bursting At The Seams!

Both with excitement and with stock. Some things we can tell you about, some things we can hint about and some stuff remains a secret until likely the end of this month when we make our big announcement. Vexy arrived yesterday and is on the floor. Lucky 13 ships Monday and one of our new accessories lines should arrive this week or the beginning of next week. Emily Strange has an order for us and it is due in any day now. AND...we just secured a great new accessories line yesterday which will be ordered today and will likely ship next week some time. It will still remain a secret as to which line it is until it gets here. We have so much new stuff coming, it's almost scarey. We have no idea where we will put it all so you may have to convince your friends to shop here, too, so that we can move it a bit faster.

In other news, the second step of our big new announcement has been finalized. We are only waiting on the third part, which we will find out at the end of the month, at which point we will reveal all. We have also been toying around with the idea of expanding again and we want your thoughts. Please take the time to fill out the survey below. It will help us to plan for the future.
